The second season’s first episode, Lasap – Nourishing a People, is about food and the ways we preserve, prepare and present food—starting with the salt-making tradition of the North, to the Halal of the South; from the meat preservation of the Cordilleras to the tradition of rich cuisine of Pampanga and the desserts of Bulacan. #DayawTV

Dayaw Season 2, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Loren Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage. This episode looks into how Filipino hous¬es have been shaped by the environment. In the homes of different indigenous peoples, we see re¬sponses to the environment they live in, and these environments are not always the kindest or most nurturing. Dayaw Season 2: Episode 3 – Pagdiwang at Pag-Alay
Dayaw Season 2, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Loren Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage. The episode, “Pagdiwang at Pag-Alay – Dance and Music Becoming Ritual”, looks into various traditions of employing music, dance, chant and prayer into a ritual. It features the Subli of Batangas, the Tud Bulul chant of the T’boli, the Salidumay of the Kalinga, and the Bulul ritual of the Ifugao. It is the first time that the ritual of the Kinakin, Ifugao has been documented and aired on television.

Dayaw Season 2: Episode 4 – Buo ang Loob – Shamans and Healers of the Philippines
Dayaw Season 2, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Loren Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage. The episode, “Buo ang Loob – Shamans and Healers of the Philippines”, looks into the methods of traditional healers and spiritual leaders whose knowledge of the spiritual and natural world make them indispensable to their communities. It features the Agusanon Babaylan, the Mambobolo and Mananambal of Siquijor, and the Baglan of Abra. It is the first time that the Pinaing ritual of Abra has been documented and aired for television.

Dayaw Season 2: Episode 5 – Karangyaan – Celebrating the Body (Part 1)
Dayaw Season 2, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Loren Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage. Episode 5 looks into the rich collection of gold jewelry from various places in the country that are now kept in museums. The intricate design in each piece of jewelry reveals the exacting technical skill and extensive knowledge possessed by Filipinos to process and melt the raw gold and fashion it into ornaments. The episode also explores the historical and cultural importance of gold in Ivatan life. It also features Whang-Od, the famous mambabatok or tattoo artist from Kalinga, and how she negotiates the fine line between tradition and commercialization.

Dayaw Season 2: Episode 6 – Karangyaan – Celebrating the Body (Part 2)
Dayaw Season 2, conceptualized and hosted by Senator Loren Legarda, and produced by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), is a six-part, 30-minute weekly documentary series that focuses on the preservation of the country’s culture and heritage. Season two of Dayaw ends in a burst of color, ornamentation and adornment. Our IPs are known for their colorful and meaningful clothing and accessories. We look into how materials such as beads, brass and sequins have become more than just objects of trade but highly valued heirlooms and objects of social and spiritual value,” said Legarda. The episode explores the significance of accessories and the meaning of each to the cultures of the Ga’dang, T’boli, and Bagobo. Many of the glass and stone beads used by IPs were from India, China, Afghanistan, Venice, and different parts of Europe that were traded all over the Philippines. These beads, which had economic value, were blended with native materials to become heirloom pieces.
